Beaumont Police Arrest Suspect Hours After Elderly Driver Targeted in Shooting

BEAUMONT, Texas – Beaumont police arrested a 23-year-old man hours after an elderly driver narrowly escaped injury when someone fired a gun at his vehicle Thursday afternoon.

According to the Beaumont Police Department, officers responded at approximately 5:26 p.m. on July 16 to the 3000 block of Corley after receiving reports of shots fired.

Investigators said an elderly man was driving through the intersection when a suspect fired a shot toward his vehicle.

Police said the bullet narrowly missed the victim’s head. The driver was not injured.

Through an investigation involving patrol officers, the Special Assignment Unit, detectives and the department’s Real Time Crime Center, investigators identified a suspect vehicle and located it within hours of the shooting.

Police arrested 23-year-old Ray’Darin Glaude on a charge of aggravated assault.

Glaude was transported to the Jefferson County Jail.

Investigators have not released a possible motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
