Lengthy Beaumont Drug Investigation Leads to Fentanyl, Meth Seizure; Federal Charges Expected

BEAUMONT, Texas – A lengthy narcotics investigation ended with the seizure of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and other illegal drugs, and the arrest of a Beaumont man who could face additional federal charges.

On Thursday, July 30, members of the Beaumont Police Department’s Special Services Division, Special Assignment Unit, K-9 Unit, the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force and the FBI executed a search warrant at a residence in the 6300 block of Westgate.

As investigators prepared to serve the warrant, they observed 47-year-old Kadrian Cormier leaving the residence.

Detectives conducted a traffic stop after observing a traffic violation and found Cormier in possession of suspected narcotics. He was taken into custody without incident.

Officers then executed the search warrant at the residence, where they recovered a large quantity of suspected fentanyl, suspected methamphetamine, suspected marijuana and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.

Cormier was booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility on narcotics-related charges.

Authorities said additional federal charges are pending as the investigation continues.

The Beaumont Police Department said it remains committed to working with local, state and federal law enforcement partners to target drug traffickers and keep dangerous narcotics out of the community.
