15-Year-Old Murder Suspect Captured in Beaumont, Multiple Firearms Recovered

BEAUMONT, Texas – A 15-year-old wanted on a murder charge in Louisiana was captured Thursday at a Beaumont residence, where investigators also recovered multiple firearms that are now being examined for a possible connection to the homicide.

Beaumont Police said they were contacted by the Lake Charles Police Department on Aug. 13 after investigators developed information indicating the juvenile suspect was in Beaumont.

A coordinated investigation involving Lake Charles detectives, the Beaumont Police Department’s Special Assignment Unit and Persons detectives, along with members of the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force, led authorities to a residence in the 2600 block of McFaddin.

Officers secured the residence and made announcements directing everyone inside to come out.

The occupants complied, and the wanted 15-year-old was among those who exited the home. Police said the juvenile was taken into custody without incident.

Multiple Firearms Found During Search

Following the arrest, investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence.

Police said multiple firearms were recovered while officers executed the warrant. Investigators are now working to determine whether any of the weapons are connected to the Lake Charles homicide.

Authorities have not released details about the killing the teenager is accused of committing, including the identity of the victim or circumstances surrounding the homicide.

Because the suspect is a juvenile, police did not release the teenager’s identity.

The 15-year-old was arrested on the outstanding murder warrant and transported to the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Detention Center.

Beaumont Police credited cooperation between its officers, Lake Charles Police and the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force with locating and safely apprehending the suspect.

The investigation into the recovered firearms and their potential connection to the Louisiana homicide remains ongoing.
