Beaumont Man Charged With Murder After 43-Year-Old Killed in Broadmoor Shooting

BEAUMONT, Texas – A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after a shooting Saturday night left a 43-year-old man dead, with Beaumont Police saying investigators connected the killing to an earlier disturbance involving the victim’s ex-girlfriend.

Officers responded to a residence in the 3900 block of Broadmoor at approximately 9:04 p.m. on Aug. 15 after receiving a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found 43-year-old Kenlyn Faulk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Faulk was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police Connect Shooting to Earlier Disturbance

During the investigation, detectives learned that Faulk had been involved in a disturbance earlier in the day at a separate location.

According to Beaumont Police, that incident involved Faulk, an ex-girlfriend and another man. Police did not provide additional details about the nature of the disturbance or what allegedly led to the later shooting.

A short time after that confrontation, Faulk was shot at the Broadmoor residence.

Patrol officers and crime analysts quickly connected the two incidents, according to police.

Within approximately 30 minutes of the shooting, investigators used technology available through the department’s Real-Time Crime Center to locate the vehicle believed to be connected to the case.

25-Year-Old Donta Lawrence Charged With Murder

The investigation continued at multiple locations across Beaumont as officers worked to locate those involved.

Police ultimately arrested 25-year-old Donta Lawrence and charged him with murder in connection with Faulk’s death.

Authorities also took 30-year-old Jkalia White into custody on unrelated charges. Police did not identify those charges or say what connection, if any, White had to the events preceding the shooting.

Investigators have not released a suspected motive or disclosed additional details about the relationship between Lawrence, Faulk and the other people involved in the earlier disturbance.

The homicide investigation remains ongoing.
