Beaumont Police Apprehend Suspect After Auto Burglary Spree

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 1:30 a.m., Beaumont Police responded to reports of suspicious activity at the Heather Glen Townhomes, located at 5446 Folsom. Callers informed authorities of three males wandering the area, tampering with car doors, with one suspect armed.

As officers headed to the scene, a witness spotted the suspects departing in a U-Haul box truck. Subsequently, a BPD K9 Officer tracked down the U-Haul at the neighboring complex, 5550 Folsom. Upon police arrival, all three suspects fled on foot. One suspect was later captured by BPD officers in the 5200 block of Stardust.

During the ensuing investigation, law enforcement uncovered a cache of stolen items commonly taken during vehicle break-ins. These included identification cards, wallets, cell phones, a rifle, ammunition, and other valuables. The apprehended suspect, identified as 23-year-old Beaumont resident LaKavin Jenkins, was transported for questioning by the Auto Theft Task Force Detectives. He was subsequently booked into Jefferson County Jail on charges of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Fraudulent Possession of Identifying Information, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
