Beaumont Police Find Drugs During Investigation Into Drive-By Shooting

BEAUMONT, Texas — A drive-by shooting investigation early Friday morning led Beaumont police to uncover suspected drugs, cash, and a firearm inside the targeted residence.

According to the Beaumont Police Department, officers responded at approximately 1:18 a.m. on July 3 to a home in the 1600 block of Glasshouse Street after receiving reports of shots fired.

The preliminary investigation determined an unknown suspect fired multiple rounds into the residence, striking the home.

One person inside the residence was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police have not released the extent of the victim’s injuries.

While conducting a protective sweep to ensure no additional victims were inside, officers observed a large quantity of suspected marijuana in plain view.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division’s Crimes Against Persons Unit and Narcotics Unit responded to the scene. Investigators later obtained a search warrant for the residence.

During the search, detectives recovered additional evidence consistent with suspected drug trafficking, including suspected fentanyl, U.S. currency, and a semiautomatic handgun.

Police said both the shooting investigation and the narcotics investigation remain active. Multiple criminal charges are pending.
