Deadly Collision in South Austin Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

On Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 8:43 p.m., officers with the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a crash involving a van and a sedan in the 2700 block of Barton Springs Road. The driver of the van was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver and a passenger of the sedan were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This incident marks Austin’s 79th fatal crash of 2024, bringing the total fatalities to 84. In comparison, on the same date in 2023, the city had experienced 79 fatal crashes resulting in 82 fatalities.
