SPRING, Texas – Three men were arrested after an attempted vehicle burglary at a Spring home escalated into a shooting that left one suspect wounded, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.

Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded July 16 to the 21100 block of Brush Glen Drive after receiving a report of three men attempting to burglarize vehicles at a residence.

According to investigators, the homeowner confronted the suspects while armed after leaving his house.

During the confrontation, the homeowner told deputies one of the suspects reached toward his waistband as though retrieving a weapon. The homeowner responded by firing a warning shot into the ground, authorities said.

Investigators said the three suspects then fled on foot toward a nearby vehicle.

As they continued fleeing, the homeowner reported that two of the suspects turned back and raised their arms in a manner that caused him to believe they were about to shoot him. Fearing for his life, the homeowner fired multiple rounds toward the suspects, striking their vehicle.

One of the suspects, identified as Coreon Hudson, suffered a gunshot wound to his left hip. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was later released.

The other two suspects fled east on Brush Glen Drive before deputies established a perimeter and located them with the assistance of additional responding units.

Authorities identified the suspects as 21-year-old Joshua Martinez, 20-year-old Coreon Hudson and 21-year-old Kasaib Phifer. Investigators said Hudson and Phifer are convicted felons.

All three men were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Court records show Hudson’s bond was set at $50,000, Martinez’s bond was set at $50,000 and Phifer’s bond was set at $75,000 by the 262nd District Court.

Authorities have not announced whether the homeowner will face any charges. Officials said the circumstances surrounding the shooting will be investigated to determine whether the use of force was justified under Texas law.
