Dangerous Man Arrested in San Angelo After Standoff
The San Angelo Police Department (SAPD) successfully apprehended a wanted subject, Hector Lopez, in a residential area near Vanderventer and S. Van Buren.
After receiving information about Lopez’s possible whereabouts, multiple officers and agencies quickly converged on the area and confirmed his presence inside a residence.
SAPD’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) arrived on the scene and attempted to establish contact with Lopez. Despite multiple unsuccessful attempts, the SWAT team entered the residence and successfully took Lopez into custody.
Lopez was transported to the Tom Green County Jail to face multiple felony warrants, including Aggravated Kidnapping, Stalking, and an MTR for Possession of Child Pornography. Fortunately, no civilians or officers sustained injuries during the operation.
Various divisions within SAPD, including the SWAT team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Drone team, K9 Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and Patrol Division, played crucial roles in resolving the incident.
SAPD extends its gratitude to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the ASU Police for their assistance in bringing the situation to a safe conclusion.
