Beaumont Police Arrest Two After Chase That Began at Oyo Hotel Trespassing Call

BEAUMONT, Texas – Beaumont Police Department arrested two people Wednesday afternoon following a vehicle pursuit and foot chase that began at a hotel along Interstate 10.
According to police, officers responded at approximately 2:19 p.m. on May 20 to the OYO Hotel regarding reports of subjects trespassing on the property.
When officers attempted to contact the occupants of the suspect vehicle, the driver allegedly sped out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed and nearly struck a responding officer.
Vehicle Located Again After Initial Escape
Police said officers and the department’s Real Time Crime Center were able to provide a license plate and vehicle description, leading officers to locate the suspect vehicle a short time later near the 6700 block of Bigner Road.
As officers attempted another traffic stop, the driver again fled, leading police on a pursuit before losing control and crashing into a ditch in the 4000 block of Roland Road.
Authorities identified the driver as La’Asia Clemons, 24, and the front-seat passenger as Katrina Harmon, 20.
Police said both occupants exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before officers quickly apprehended them without incident.
Charges Filed
Clemons was arrested on charges of:
- Aggravated assault on a public servant
- Evading arrest in a motor vehicle
- Theft
Harmon was arrested for:
- Evading arrest on foot
Both were transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
