Beaumont Man Arrested After SWAT Responds to Standoff Following Domestic Disturbance

BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont man surrendered to police following a lengthy standoff Thursday evening after officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance.
According to the Beaumont Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:08 p.m. on June 25 to the 1700 block of Rena Street.
When officers arrived, the suspect fled on foot, entered a nearby residence, and barricaded the front door.
Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Larry Williams of Beaumont.
A preliminary investigation determined that Williams had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, endangered their child, and was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant.
Because Williams had barricaded himself inside the residence, the Beaumont Police Department’s SWAT team was activated and responded to the scene.
After a lengthy standoff, Williams surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without incident.
Williams was booked into the Jefferson County Jail and charged with Assault Causes Bodily Injury to Family Member and Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle, enhanced with a Previous Conviction. His bond was set at $22,000. The bond conditions include being on home confinement, getting a GPS monitoring device installed on his person and no contact of any kind with the victim/witness’ family.
