Houston Man Charged With Murder After Woman Found Shot Dead in Braeburn Area Apartment

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police have arrested a man accused of fatally shooting a woman and then shooting himself inside a Braeburn-area apartment last week.

Rony Arnoldo Alvarado Amaya, 24, has been charged with murder in the 486th State District Court in connection with the death of 27-year-old Angelica Loredo.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex located at 8701 Gustine Lane at approximately 5:45 p.m. on June 18.

When officers arrived, they were directed to an apartment where gunshots had reportedly been heard. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered two individuals inside a bedroom suffering from gunshot wounds.

Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Loredo dead at the scene.

The second victim, later identified as Amaya, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Police said he remains hospitalized, and a booking photo has not yet been released.

Investigators with the Houston Police Department Homicide Division determined that Amaya shot both Loredo and himself during the incident.

After reviewing the evidence, detectives consulted with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, which accepted a murder charge against Amaya.

No additional details regarding a motive or the circumstances leading up to the shooting have been released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
