Murder Warrant Issued for Port Arthur Man in Beaumont Apartment Shooting

Beaumont, TX — Detectives with the Beaumont Police Department have obtained a murder warrant for a Port Arthur man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month.
Authorities announced that Kimothy Bessard, 24, of Port Arthur, is now facing a murder charge in the death of Chrishiann Marks, who was found shot inside an apartment on Pine Street.
According to police, officers responded at approximately 11:37 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026, to the 5000 block of Pine Street after receiving a report of a shooting. When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they located Marks deceased inside the residence.
Investigators determined the shooting was a targeted attack stemming from an earlier disagreement involving occupants of the apartment, according to Beaumont Police.
During the investigation, detectives interviewed Bessard as a person of interest in the case. He was later taken into custody on an unrelated aggravated assault warrant.
After gathering additional evidence and continuing their investigation, detectives obtained a murder warrant for Bessard in connection with Marks’ death.
Bessard is currently being held at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
