HOUSTON, Texas – A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder after his 23-year-old boyfriend was found stabbed to death inside a Harris County home Monday night, Oct. 5, 2026.

Jaime Castillo, 20, was arrested in connection with the death of Jose Orozco, 23, who was discovered unresponsive inside a residence in the 4400 block of Sandydale Lane in the East Aldine area.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began after a man in Colorado contacted the Houston Police Department and reported that his brother, who was in the Houston area, had told him he had killed his partner.

Houston police contacted the suspected killer by telephone, but investigators said he repeatedly provided false information about his location and the whereabouts of the victim.

Officers were initially unable to locate either man.

Harris County sheriff’s deputies later responded to a welfare check at 4423 Sandydale Lane. Inside the home, deputies discovered Orozco lying unresponsive on the floor.

He appeared to have suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators subsequently confirmed that the welfare check and the earlier call to Houston police involved the same suspect and victim.

While homicide detectives were responding to the residence, Houston police located Castillo at 4303 Charriton Drive and detained him.

Castillo was transported back to the Sandydale Lane residence as investigators continued processing the crime scene.

Harris County homicide detectives interviewed several of Orozco’s family members, including his parents and siblings.

Family members told investigators that Orozco and Castillo had been in a relationship for several months to approximately one year.

Castillo was later taken to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division for questioning.

Following the interview, detectives presented their findings to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, which accepted a murder charge against Castillo.

He was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
