Three Arrested After Jugging Suspects Lead Cedar Park Police on Pursuit

CEDAR PARK, Texas — Three men were arrested after a suspected “jugging” incident led to a police pursuit and foot chase Thursday morning, according to Cedar Park police.
Officers were called around 11 a.m. April 30 to a Wells Fargo bank after a report of suspicious activity involving multiple individuals, including one inside the bank. The suspects were described as leaving in an older Dodge Charger before officers arrived.
A detective later spotted the vehicle heading west on Whitestone Boulevard and followed it as it pulled into a Bank of America. When the detective attempted to initiate a stop, the driver fled, leading officers on a pursuit.
The chase continued into the Riviera neighborhood, where two occupants exited the vehicle and ran. Both were quickly apprehended. The driver continued fleeing before crashing into a concrete wall near the 183A and State Highway 45 flyover, where he was taken into custody.
Police identified the suspects as Gabriel Lara, 20; Nicholas Barrientos, 20; and Ruben Barrientos, 25. No injuries were reported.
Investigators said the individuals are also connected to a previous “jugging” case in Oklahoma in which approximately $25,000 was stolen from a victim at a place of worship.
Police said “jugging” involves suspects watching individuals withdraw cash from banks or ATMs and then following them to steal the money. Officials are reminding residents to stay alert after making withdrawals and to report any suspicious activity.
