Round Rock Police Officer Fatally Shoots Armed Suspect During Response to Double Stabbing

ROUND ROCK, Texas – A man armed with a knife was fatally shot by a Round Rock police officer early Tuesday after officers forced their way into a home while responding to a reported stabbing that left two people critically injured.

The officer-involved shooting occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on Aug. 4 at a residence in the 2800 block of Phoenix Way, according to the Round Rock Police Department.

Police were dispatched after receiving a 911 call reporting that a woman had fled to a nearby neighbor’s home after being stabbed.

When officers arrived, they heard a man inside the residence yelling for help. After announcing their presence, officers forced entry through the front door and encountered a suspect armed with a knife.

During the confrontation, one officer fired his weapon, striking the suspect.

Officers then located a second victim inside the residence suffering from critical stab wounds.

The suspect and both victims were transported to a local hospital. The suspect later died from his injuries, while the male and female victims remain hospitalized in critical condition.

The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting with assistance from the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office, which is standard procedure in such incidents.

Police have not released the identities of the suspect, the victims or the officer involved.

The Round Rock Police Department said additional information will be released as it becomes available.

According to the department, this is its first officer-involved shooting since January 2025.
