Teen Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Man on Motorized Bicycle in Beaumont

A 16-year-old male has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of 63-year-old Terry Thompson, who was killed on Tuesday evening while riding a motorized bicycle in the area of Pipkin and Chaison.

Beaumont Police officers responded to the scene on April 8, 2025, at approximately 6:32 p.m. They learned that Thompson and another man were approached by four black male juveniles. During the encounter, one of the juveniles produced a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking Thompson in the chest. The suspects then fled on foot.

Following the shooting, community members and a tip submitted through Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers provided crucial information that allowed BPD Detectives to quickly identify the individuals involved. On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, investigators apprehended a 16-year-old male in connection to the murder.

The teenager will be processed at the Beaumont Police Department before being transported to the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Detention Center.
