BEAUMONT, Texas — Four suspects were taken into custody and multiple firearms were recovered following a disturbance in a shopping center parking lot Saturday night, authorities said.

According to the Beaumont Police Department, officers responded around 8:27 p.m. April 25, 2026, to the 6100 block of Eastex Freeway, where a disturbance involving multiple individuals was reported. Police said some of those involved were allegedly brandishing firearms.

Officers working alongside the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force attempted to detain one suspect, who fled on foot and hid a handgun in bushes near Parkdale Mall. He was quickly apprehended and later provided false identifying information to officers.

Two juveniles also fled the scene. One discarded suspected marijuana in the parking lot near a Wells Fargo location, while the other was found with suspected THC. Both were taken into custody and transported to the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Justice Center.

Police said the suspect vehicle was located in the parking lot, and the driver was later arrested. Officers observed an AR-style pistol in plain view inside the vehicle. A subsequent search led to the recovery of an additional 9mm handgun and another AR-style pistol.

In total, officers seized four firearms, including one that had been reported stolen.

Authorities said the coordinated response by officers helped prevent the situation from escalating further.

The investigation remains ongoing.
