Midland Man Faces Second Murder Charge After Victim Dies From Injuries in June 1 Attack

MIDLAND, Texas — A Midland man already charged with murder is now facing a second murder charge after another victim died from injuries sustained during a violent incident earlier this month, according to the Midland Police Department.
36-year-old Roberto Pando III was arrested Tuesday, June 9th, after investigators obtained a second murder warrant in connection with the case. The warrant carries a $2 million bond.
Police said Pando was located and booked into the Midland County Jail on the new charge.
The charges stem from a disturbance involving weapons that occurred during the early morning hours of June 1.
At approximately 1:24 a.m., Midland police officers responded to a reported disturbance involving two vehicles near the intersection of Loop 250 and Fairgrounds Road.
When officers arrived, they located a 2009 Ford F-150. Police reported that the driver of the vehicle was deceased at the scene, while four passengers suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
Later that same day, investigators made contact with Pando. According to police, he provided a full confession regarding his involvement in the homicide.
Pando was initially arrested and booked into the Midland County Detention Center on one count of murder.
Following the death of a second victim, investigators secured an additional murder warrant, resulting in the latest charge.
The investigation remains ongoing.
