HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A woman has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after a rollover crash late Wednesday night claimed the life of her passenger, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:59 p.m. on June 10th in the 600 block of Century Plaza Drive.

Investigators said 39-year-old Yury Ramirez-Chavez was driving a gray 2004 GMC Yukon eastbound when she lost control of the vehicle while traveling at a speed above the posted limit.

According to authorities, the SUV entered a clockwise rotation as it traveled along a curve in the roadway. The vehicle then left its lane and struck a concrete curb on the north side of the eastbound lanes.

The impact caused the GMC to roll onto its left side before coming to rest in the roadway.

The front-seat passenger, identified as 37-year-old Miguel Turrubiartes, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle, investigators said.

Harris County Emergency Corps Medic 95 responded to the scene and pronounced Turrubiartes dead at 11:10 p.m.

Deputies reported that Ramirez-Chavez showed signs of intoxication following the crash. She was arrested and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate the crash.
