Beaumont Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting That Left One Man Dead

Two Beaumont Police officers remain on administrative leave following an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night, a step the department says is standard procedure in cases of this nature.

Officers were called at approximately 8:23 p.m. to the 4400 block of Diamond Street in response to a disturbance involving a man reportedly armed with a handgun. According to police, the caller told dispatchers that the suspect had broken a glass door to a residence and that a female inside was bleeding from injuries caused by the shattered glass.

Two officers were the first to arrive and encountered the suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Beaumont resident Jordan Bossette, who was armed with a handgun. Police say Bossette failed to comply with verbal commands and charged toward the officers while holding the weapon, prompting both officers to discharge their firearms.

During the incident, another individual involved in the disturbance barricaded themselves inside the residence and refused to come out. The Beaumont Police SWAT Team and police negotiators were called to the scene. After negotiations, officers were able to safely persuade the person to exit the home so the investigation could proceed.

Bossette was pronounced dead at the scene. Police confirmed his next of kin has been notified. No officers were injured during the incident.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Beaumont Police Department in coordination with the Texas Rangers and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities say no additional information is being released at this time as the investigation continues.
