Woman Arrested by La Marque Police for Murder in Fatal Fentanyl Overdose Investigation

LA MARQUE, Texas — A woman has been charged with murder following a months-long investigation into the fentanyl overdose death of a 21-year-old man at a La Marque motel, authorities said.
The investigation began on Aug. 2, 2025, when officers with the La Marque Police Department responded to the Super 8 Motel at 312 Delaney Road regarding an unresponsive person.
Upon arrival, officers found 21-year-old Chase Daniel Boone in his motel room. Police and La Marque EMS personnel immediately began life-saving measures, but Boone was later pronounced dead.
Detective Kelemen launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Boone’s death. According to investigators, the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined Boone died from a fentanyl overdose.
Through the course of the investigation, Brooklyn Pace was identified as a person of interest. Authorities said evidence developed during the investigation indicated Pace was responsible for selling the fentanyl that caused Boone’s death.
The case was presented to the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, which determined there was sufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges. Pace was subsequently charged with murder, and bond was set at $200,000.
On May 21, 2026, officers with the La Marque Police Department, assisted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force-Galveston, located and arrested Pace without incident.
The investigation was conducted in coordination with local, state and federal law enforcement partners. Authorities said the case remains part of ongoing efforts to investigate fatal fentanyl overdoses and pursue criminal charges when evidence supports that a person knowingly sold or delivered the fatal dose.
