Major Galveston County Drug Trafficking Investigation Leads to Meth, Fentanyl and Cocaine Seizure

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas – A multi-kilogram narcotics investigation by the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force has resulted in the arrest of a Texas City man and the seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine, authorities announced.

Investigators arrested 41-year-old Xavier Franklin on July 30 as part of an ongoing investigation targeting organized drug trafficking operations throughout Galveston County.

According to the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force, detectives working with Homeland Security Investigations identified Franklin as a business partner of Mone Ford in the manufacture and distribution of illegal narcotics.

As the investigation progressed, detectives determined Franklin was storing large quantities of narcotics inside a storage unit at a U-Haul Storage Facility in La Marque.

A search of the storage unit resulted in the seizure of approximately 3.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, along with fentanyl and cocaine. Authorities did not disclose the quantities of the fentanyl or cocaine recovered.

Following the search, members of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit located Franklin in Texas City and took him into custody without incident.

Franklin has been charged with Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, More Than 400 Grams.

His bond was set at $2 million.

Authorities said the investigation remains active as detectives continue working to dismantle organized narcotics trafficking operations in Galveston County.

The Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force is a partnership between the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, League City Police Department, Galveston Police Department and Dickinson Police Department, working alongside state and federal law enforcement agencies to combat organized crime and drug trafficking.
