Suspect Dead in Officer-Involved Shooting in Northeast Midland County

On Monday, December 11, 2023, at around 11:50 am, Midland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an aggravated assault call in Northeast Midland County (Greenwood area). Upon their arrival, a confrontation ensued, resulting in an officer-involved shooting.

The suspect involved in the incident has been identified as 41-year-old Wesley Wells, who was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.

The circumstances leading to the confrontation and subsequent shooting are under investigation by the Texas Rangers.

In adherence to protocol, no additional details will be disclosed until a review is conducted by a Midland County grand jury.
