Suspect Arrested in El Paso Shooting for Aggravated Assault

On February 16, 2025, at approximately 5:40 p.m., police responded to a shots-fired call in the 6700 block of Sambrano. While en route, officers received information that a black SUV had fled the scene. Police located the vehicle during a traffic stop and found a 22-year-old male victim, a Central, El Paso resident, who had been shot. Fire and medical services transported the victim to a local hospital.
Following the investigation, police identified 32-year-old Efren Martinez, a Socorro resident, as the shooter. On February 17, 2025, Martinez was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. He faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with Judge Sullivan setting bond at $100,000.
