New Year’s Celebration Marred by Stray Bullet in Lufkin, 67-Year-Old Man Hospitalized in Critical Condition

In the aftermath of a New Year’s morning shooting in Lufkin, the victim has been identified as 67-year-old Danny McKenna from Nacogdoches.

As of this morning, McKenna is in critical but stable condition at a Tyler-area hospital.

The incident occurred at a family member’s New Year’s Eve party in the 2200 block of North Raguet Street, Lufkin, TX, shortly after midnight yesterday when McKenna was struck by a stray bullet from a nearby home.

Emergency services transported McKenna by ambulance to a local hospital, and he was later transferred to Tyler for a higher level of care.

Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
