LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – A Liberty County man has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery following an armed robbery at a convenience store in the Raywood area.

According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on May 29, 2026, to an armed robbery at the Exxon convenience store located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 90 and FM 770.

Investigators said a store employee was assaulted during the robbery, and a customer was pushed to the ground before the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The employee sustained injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The case was assigned to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, which initially had very little information available to identify the suspect.

Detectives immediately began canvassing the area, reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing potential witnesses, and collecting evidence.

Through what officials described as extensive follow-up investigative work, detectives were able to develop critical leads that ultimately led to the identification of a suspect.

Investigators identified the suspect as Xavier Ricky Baldwin, 33.

On June 5, 2026, just one week after the robbery, Baldwin was taken into custody without incident.

He has been charged with Aggravated Robbery, a first-degree felony under Texas law.

Authorities credited surveillance review, evidence collection, witness interviews, and persistent investigative efforts for helping solve the case.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office also recognized the assistance of the Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 3, whose deputies helped take Baldwin into custody.

Sheriff’s officials said the arrest highlights the dedication and professionalism of the investigators assigned to the case, noting that detectives were able to identify and apprehend the suspect despite having limited information at the outset of the investigation.

The case remains under investigation.
