Liberty County Deputy Arrests Woman on Drug Charges After Traffic Stop; Admits to Selling Meth

DAYTON, Texas — A routine traffic stop in Liberty County led to the arrest of a Dayton woman on multiple drug charges after deputies allegedly discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, Xanax, and suspected Percocet inside her vehicle.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy with the Interdiction Unit was patrolling the area of FM 1960 and Rustic Retreat Road on May 13, 2026, when he observed a moving traffic violation and initiated a stop.
Investigators identified the driver and sole occupant as 62-year-old Karol Watson.
During the investigation, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle, authorities said.
According to investigators, deputies located a plastic bag containing a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, two bottles of Xanax, and a small bag containing suspected Percocet.
Authorities said Watson admitted she intended to sell the methamphetamine to a friend.
Watson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
She was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B, 1 to 4 grams; Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3/4, less than 28 grams; and Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B, more than 4 grams.
