College Station Police Release New Details in Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The College Station Police Department released additional details regarding an officer-involved shooting tied to a civil disturbance call that left a suspect and a neighboring resident injured.
According to police, officers initially responded to a report of a civil disturbance when the suspect allegedly threatened another person and armed himself with a firearm.
Investigators said the first responding officer heard the suspect fire a shot into a neighboring apartment before confronting him.
Police said the officer issued commands for the suspect to drop the weapon, but the suspect refused. The officer then fired his weapon, striking and disarming the suspect.
Authorities identified the suspect as 28-year-old Charles Allan Male of Hearne.
Officers immediately began providing medical aid to Male, who suffered what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.
While treating the suspect, officers learned that a resident in a neighboring apartment had been struck in the leg by what investigators believe was a ricochet from the officer’s gunfire.
Police said officers rendered aid to the injured resident until the College Station Fire Department arrived.
Male has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Deadly Conduct, Terroristic Threat, and Discharge of a Firearm.
Authorities said Male remains hospitalized and will be booked into the Brazos County Jail once released from medical care.
