LEAGUE CITY, Texas — Two people were arrested following a vehicle pursuit and narcotics investigation that began with a traffic stop in League City, according to the League City Police Department.

Police said 26-year-old James Robinson of Hitchcock was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle and Endangering a Child. Authorities said his total bond was set at $65,000.

Twenty-three-year-old Breannah Hampton of Texas City was charged with Possession of Marijuana between four ounces and five pounds, with bond set at $20,000.

According to investigators, Officer Jones observed a traffic violation involving a black Mercedes CLA250 around 1:21 p.m. on May 11 near South Gulf Freeway and West FM 646.

Police said the driver fled after the officer initiated a traffic stop in a Walmart parking lot.

Authorities said the vehicle accelerated onto West FM 646 before continuing southbound at a high speed through traffic along the Interstate 45 corridor.

The pursuit later entered an apartment complex parking lot in the 8800 block of Emmett F. Lowry Boulevard.

Investigators said officers and deputies with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle inside the complex, where Hampton was allegedly seen discarding a package later determined to contain more than one pound of marijuana.

Authorities said Robinson was later located within the apartment complex along with the couple’s 1-year-old son.

Police identified Robinson as the driver during the pursuit and said Hampton and the child were passengers in the vehicle.

Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident, and the child was released to a family member at the scene, according to investigators.
