Midland County Drug Bust Near School Zone Leads to Arrest

The Midland County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant on the 4300 block of Mercedes Drive as part of an investigation into narcotics distribution within a drug-free zone near Long Elementary School in Midland, Texas.

The search resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and marijuana. Following the operation, investigators secured an arrest warrant for 45-year-old John Hardy Burkart. He faces multiple charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance in a drug-free zone and Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance in a drug-free zone.

Sheriff Criner emphasized the department’s commitment to protecting the citizens of Midland County and targeting those involved in drug activity.
