Leander Police Investigating Assault After Girls on Scooters Struck by Gel-Blaster Rounds

LEANDER, Texas — Leander police are investigating an assault after two 12-year-old girls were struck by gel-blaster rounds while riding scooters in a residential neighborhood last month.
According to the Leander Police Department, officers responded to the 600 block of Los Robles Road at approximately 7:47 p.m. on May 24 after receiving reports that a juvenile inside a vehicle had fired gel-blaster rounds at other juveniles in the area.
Investigators said the two girls were riding scooters when a beige sedan drove past them. A passenger in the vehicle was reportedly sitting on the front passenger window frame and pointing an orange and green gel-blaster style gun over the roof of the car.
Police said multiple rounds were fired from the device. One of the girls was struck on the left cheekbone just below her eye, while the second victim was hit in the chest.
Detectives with the Leander Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division have identified the juvenile suspects involved in the incident.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details are being released at this time.
The Leander Police Department reminded residents that gel blasters and similar devices can cause injuries and may result in criminal charges when used irresponsibly.
