Former Employee Accused of Stealing More Than $460k From Montgomery County Real Estate Business

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A Harris County woman has been charged with first-degree felony theft after investigators alleged she diverted more than $460,000 from a local business over a two-year period.
The investigation began in February 2026 when patrol deputies with Montgomery County Constable Ryan Gable’s Office received a complaint from a business regarding a former employee suspected of misappropriating company funds.
Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division launched an extensive financial investigation that included a review of company and banking records.
According to investigators, the former employee allegedly deposited company-issued checks into her personal bank account over a two-year period, resulting in losses exceeding $460,000.
Authorities allege the funds were used to purchase luxury clothing, high-end jewelry, expensive dining experiences, international travel and other high-value items.
On June 8, 2026, Precinct 3 detectives arrested 46-year-old Heather Jolaine Surratt at her residence in Harris County.
Surratt was charged with Theft of Property Over $300,000, a first-degree felony under Texas law. She was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and booked without incident.
Authorities said her bond was set at $50,000, and she has since been released from custody after posting bond.
Court records show that Styled Real Estate, LLC of Spring filed a lawsuit against Surratt in April 2026. The lawsuit was dismissed on June 5 for want of prosecution.
The criminal investigation remains ongoing.
