Fatal Shooting at Houston Apartment Complex Heads to Grand Jury

An incident unfolded on Tuesday, January 23, as a 20-year-old woman was fatally shot at 12777 Ashford Point Drive (Ashford Court Apartments) around 8:05 p.m. The case is set to be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased woman is currently awaiting verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The alleged shooter, a 19-year-old female, was not injured.

Upon receiving a shooting call, Houston police officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics rushed to the scene at the apartment complex. They discovered an unresponsive woman with gunshot wound(s) and transported her to Ben Taub General Hospital. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The 19-year-old shooter remained at the scene and cooperated with detectives during questioning.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was notified, and they determined that the case would undergo a thorough review by a grand jury.
