Harris County K-9 Tracks Down Teen Suspect After Apartment Complex Foot Chase

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 15-year-old suspect was arrested after fleeing from deputies twice during an investigation into suspicious activity at a north Harris County apartment complex, authorities said.
According to Constable Mark Herman’s Office, deputies responded on June 15, 2026, to the 16100 block of the North Freeway after receiving reports of three suspicious males allegedly checking vehicle door handles in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
Deputies searched the area and soon located a suspicious vehicle near the property’s exit gate.
As deputies approached the vehicle and activated their emergency equipment, three male occupants reportedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the apartment complex.
Deputies immediately established a perimeter and requested assistance from the Precinct 4 K-9 Unit and Drone Team.
Using aerial support and tracking resources, deputies located one of the fleeing suspects, identified as a 15-year-old juvenile male.
Authorities said the juvenile attempted to flee a second time when deputies moved in to take him into custody.
Constable K-9 Tejas was deployed and successfully apprehended the suspect after the second foot pursuit.
The juvenile sustained minor injuries during the apprehension and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
After being medically cleared and released, he was booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding possible charges or the identities of the other two individuals who fled the scene.
Constable Mark Herman credited the coordinated efforts of deputies, the K-9 unit, and drone operators for the quick arrest.
“Our deputies, K-9 teams, and drone operators work together every day to protect our community and hold offenders accountable,” Herman said. “Running from law enforcement only increases the consequences. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of our personnel, this suspect was quickly located and taken into custody.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
