Fatal Rollover Accident on Eastex Freeway Entrance Ramp

On February 10, 2024, at around 9:40 PM, a fatal accident occurred on the 13400 block of Eastex Freeway service road entrance ramp.

Leopoldo Puente was driving his 2001 Ford F-150 southbound on the ramp when he attempted to exit onto the service road. During the maneuver, Puente failed to maintain control of his vehicle, veering out of a single lane and colliding with traffic barrels. The impact caused his Ford F-150 to overturn multiple times, resulting in Puente being partially ejected from the vehicle.

Emergency responders from HCEC Med 940 arrived at the scene and discovered Puente without any signs of life at approximately 9:52 PM.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
