Woman Arrested on Manslaughter Charge After Fatal Stabbing in Southeast Houston

HOUSTON, Texas. – A 28-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with manslaughter following a fatal stabbing Saturday morning in southeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
Officers responded to a reported stabbing at approximately 9:55 a.m. on July 11 at a residence in the 11900 block of Bat Sheva Lane.
When officers arrived, they found a bystander providing first aid to a 28-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released her identity pending notification of her family by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Police said the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Kayla Wynita Rodgers, remained at the scene and was taken into custody without incident.
Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Rodgers was charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatal stabbing.
The Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
