LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas — A Liberty County man on parole for a prior methamphetamine distribution conviction was arrested Tuesday after investigators seized nearly two pounds of suspected crystal methamphetamine during a narcotics investigation, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators with the sheriff’s office Criminal Interdiction and Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant May 5, 2026, at a property located at 3710 Oilfield Road in Liberty following an investigation into suspected methamphetamine distribution.

Authorities identified the suspect as 46-year-old Jared Boatman.

According to investigators, Boatman was already known to the sheriff’s office from a previous narcotics investigation at a former residence on FM 1409 in Dayton. Officials said Boatman is currently on parole through 2034 following a prior methamphetamine distribution conviction.

The sheriff’s office said Boatman has a criminal history dating back to 1997, with more than 25 arrests involving multiple agencies for offenses including drug distribution, possession of controlled substances, parole and probation violations, unlawful firearm possession, resisting arrest, criminal nonsupport, and failure to appear charges.

Investigators said Boatman was detained outside the property without incident as the warrant was executed.

During the search, authorities discovered multiple large plastic packages containing suspected crystal methamphetamine concealed inside a container located in a tool shed. Investigators also recovered digital scales, drug paraphernalia, and packaging materials commonly associated with narcotics distribution.

Inside a travel trailer on the property that was being used as a residence, investigators located an 11-year-old child and a .22 caliber revolver, according to authorities.

Officials said Boatman, as a convicted felon on parole, is prohibited from possessing firearms.

The child’s other guardian was contacted and responded to the scene to take custody of the child, investigators said.

Evidence collected from the property was later processed at the sheriff’s office, where the suspected methamphetamine weighed approximately 911 grams, or about two pounds.

Boatman was booked into the Liberty County Jail and charged with Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, Over 400 Grams, a first-degree felony; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a third-degree felony; and Abandoning or Endangering a Child, a state jail felony.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
