Two Arrested After Authorities Recover 45 Catalytic Converters During Santa Fe Investigation

SANTA FE, Texas — Two people were arrested Tuesday after investigators recovered dozens of catalytic converters during an operation at a recycling center in Santa Fe, according to authorities.
The operation was conducted May 12, 2026, by the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force, Organized Crime Task Force, and Crime Reduction Unit in coordination with the Texas Department of Public Safety Regulatory Services Division.
Investigators said the operation focused on the Derichebourg Recycling Center and involved the alleged purchase and possession of illegal catalytic converters.
As a result of the investigation, detectives recovered 45 catalytic converters and arrested 65-year-old Gregory Robinson and 49-year-old Kimberly Uresti.
Authorities charged both individuals with Unlawful Possession of Catalytic Converters, a state jail felony.
Robinson and Uresti were booked into the Galveston County Jail.
Officials said the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional unit funded by the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority.
Participating agencies include the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, League City Police Department, Galveston Police Department, La Marque Police Department, and the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the task force focuses on investigating vehicle-related crimes and supporting regional law enforcement agencies through crime prevention and investigative efforts.
