Young Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at Midland Intersection

MIDLAND, Texas — A 21-year-old man died Wednesday after a crash involving a dirt bike and an SUV at a Midland intersection, according to the Midland Police Department.

Police said officers responded at approximately 10:42 p.m. on May 13, 2026, to the intersection of Raymond Street and Cedar Springs Road following reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.

When officers arrived, they located a non-street-legal 2023 Yamaha YZ250FX dirt bike in the intersection and a 2006 Nissan Murano with heavy passenger-side damage west of the intersection.

Authorities identified the motorcyclist as 21-year-old Luke Quentin Palacios.

According to police, officers and EMS personnel found Palacios lying next to the motorcycle suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Preliminary findings indicate Palacios was traveling southbound on Raymond Street at a high rate of speed, investigators said.

Police reported that the Nissan Murano was traveling westbound on Howard Street and stopped at a posted stop sign before proceeding through the intersection and crossing Raymond Street into the 3700 block of Cedar Springs Road.

Investigators said Palacios then struck the passenger side of the Nissan.

The crash remains under investigation.
