ATV Rider Critically Injured in Crash Near Highway 6 in the Mission Bend Area

HOUSTON, Texas — An ATV rider was critically injured Thursday morning after a collision with an SUV near State Highway 6 in west Houston (Mission Bend area), according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:26 a.m. on June 25 in the 14700 block of Lindita Drive near the intersection with State Highway 6.

Investigators said 41-year-old Emmanuel McClure was riding an off-road-only all-terrain vehicle eastbound on Lindita Drive toward State Highway 6.

At the same time, Marie Guardado-Quijada was driving a 2022 Buick Encore south from a private driveway on the north side of Lindita Drive, attempting to cross the roadway into another private driveway on the south side.

According to the preliminary investigation, McClure was operating the ATV on a public roadway without wearing a helmet and appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed based on surveillance video obtained from a nearby Chevrolet dealership.

Investigators also determined that Guardado-Quijada failed to yield the right-of-way while entering the roadway from the private drive, causing the front right side of her vehicle to strike the ATV.

The impact sent the ATV into the private driveway on the south side of Lindita Drive, throwing McClure from the vehicle. He struck a gate after being separated from the ATV.

McClure was flown by Life Flight to a hospital in critical but stable condition with possible life-threatening injuries.

Guardado-Quijada remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities said she did not exhibit any signs of impairment.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate the crash.
