Arrest Made in San Benito as Sheriff Deputies Respond to Violation of Protective Order

On Thursday, January 18, 2024, at approximately 22:00hrs, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to Kornegay Rd. in San Benito, Texas, in response to a welfare concern. The concern involved a female potentially in the company of her boyfriend, identified as 30-year-old Johnny Loera.

Upon reaching the scene, Sheriff Deputies conducted a patrol of the area and successfully located a vehicle matching the description provided in the welfare check. The deputies approached the vehicle and identified Johnny Loera as the driver, accompanied by a 35-year-old female passenger named in the welfare concern.

Further investigation revealed that a protective order was in effect, designating the female passenger as the protected party and Mr. Loera as subject to restrictions, specifically to maintain a distance of 200 feet from the protected party. Sheriff Deputies determined that Mr. Loera was in violation of the protective order.

In response to the violation, Sheriff Deputies took Loera into custody. He was subsequently transported to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center, where he awaits arraignment. Loera faces charges for Violation of Certain Court Orders under TPC 25.07, classified as a Class A Misdemeanor.
