Woman Killed After Firing at Officers During Beaumont Police Raid

On Friday, August 30, 2024, at approximately 9:45 AM, Beaumont Police Narcotics Investigators, supported by the Beaumont Police SWAT Team, executed an arrest and search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Palm Street. The suspect named in the warrant, 43-year-old Victoria Meza, a Beaumont resident, fired multiple shots at officers as they attempted to carry out the operation. One of Meza’s shots struck the ballistic shield being carried by an officer, resulting in a minor injury to the officer. Additionally, two police vehicles were hit by gunfire from Meza.

In response to the immediate threat, officers discharged their firearms at Meza. Emergency medical services from Beaumont arrived on the scene, and Meza was pronounced deceased. The injured officer received medical treatment for a minor injury.

The Beaumont Police Department has stated that this incident is currently under investigation by Beaumont Police Persons Detectives, Internal Affairs, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Rangers.
