Brownsville Woman Arrested for Theft of Firearm and Family Assault
On Thursday, January 18, 2024, at approximately 10:30hrs, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence on the 36000 block of FM 1421, Brownsville, Texas. The incident involved a 60-year-old male victim and his common-law wife. The victim reported confronting his 19-year-old stepdaughter, Victoria Lexi Ramirez, about a missing firearm from his bedroom.
Ramirez allegedly became aggressive during the confrontation, causing damage to the residence by punching walls, resulting in approximately $1,000 worth of damages. The victim attempted to intervene to prevent further damage, leading to Ramirez physically assaulting him. Sheriff Deputies observed injuries on the victim consistent with assault.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the missing firearm was allegedly stolen by Ramirez, who was reportedly seen going through the victim’s belongings by a family member. Ramirez was detained by Sheriff Deputies and read her Miranda Warnings. She confessed to stealing the firearm. The investigation is ongoing to locate the whereabouts of the missing firearm.
Ms. Victoria Lexi Ramirez was subsequently arrested and transported to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center pending arraignment. She faces charges of Theft of Firearm (TPC 31.03), a State Jail Felony, Assault Family Violence (TPC 22.01), a Class A Misdemeanor, and Criminal Mischief (TPC 28.03), a Class A Misdemeanor.
