High-Speed Chase in Beaumont Ends in Arrest of Auto Theft Suspects with Stolen Vehicle and Weapon

On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 3:25 pm, Beaumont Police Department (BPD) officers conducting criminal interdiction on I-10 near Major Dr. initiated a traffic stop on a white Dodge Challenger for a traffic violation. The driver evaded officers, leading to a vehicle pursuit. After briefly losing sight of the Dodge Challenger, officers discovered it unoccupied near the intersection of the Cardinal Drive service road near Executive Blvd.

Officers saturated the area and located two suspects who had fled on foot through a neighborhood east of Executive Blvd. The investigation revealed that during their escape, the suspects discarded a bag containing electronic criminal instruments used for auto theft. The Dodge Challenger was reported stolen from Louisiana, and a handgun was found inside the vehicle.

Auto Theft Detectives interviewed the suspects, identified as 19-year-old Tory Willis from Duson, Louisiana, and 20-year-old Anthony Curtis from Corona, California. Both individuals were transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.

Willis and Curtis faced charges including Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest/Detention in a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest/Detention on Foot, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, and Unlawful Use of Criminal Instrument.
