Unidentified Man Killed in Early Morning Hit-and-Run on IH 35 in Austin

The Austin Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred early Friday morning in South Austin.

On Friday, June 20, 2025, at approximately 2:35 a.m., officers responded to a report of an injured individual in the intersection of the 4100 block of South IH 35 SVRD NB and the 1600 block of East Ben White Boulevard SVRD EB. Upon arrival, they located an unidentified white male who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. No motor vehicles were present at the scene when officers arrived. The case is being investigated as a Collision Involving Death.

This marks Austin’s 45th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 49 traffic-related deaths. At this same point in 2024, there had been 34 fatal crashes resulting in 35 deaths.
