Two Jefferson County Men Sentenced to Federal Prison for Carjacking and Firearm Possession

Two Jefferson County men, Mikale Rashad Bolton, 21, of Beaumont, and Jordan Malik Bronnon, 30, of Port Arthur, have been sentenced to federal prison in the Eastern District of Texas, according to U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs.

Mikale Rashad Bolton pleaded guilty to carjacking and received a 180-month sentence in federal prison from U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on Jan. 8, 2024. The incident occurred on June 25, 2022, near French Road in Beaumont. Bolton approached a vehicle, requested a cigarette lighter from the driver, and then brandished a firearm, pointing it at the driver’s head. The driver was ordered to exit the vehicle, warned not to contact the police, or face potential harm. Bolton fled the scene in the stolen vehicle. The FBI and the Beaumont Police Department conducted the investigation.

Jordan Malik Bronnon pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison by Judge Crone on the same day. On May 23, 2022, local law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Bronnon was a passenger. During a search of the vehicle, a backpack containing paperwork with Bronnon’s name and a rifle magazine with ammunition were found. Additionally, a rifle was discovered on the rear passenger floorboard. Bronnon, a convicted felon, was prohibited by federal law from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition. The ATF and the Port Arthur Police Department conducted the investigation.

Both cases were prosecuted under the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program, a joint federal, state, and local initiative aimed at reducing violent crime. PSN, a Department of Justice violent crime reduction effort, employs evidence-based strategies to address community-specific violent crime problems. The program focuses on collaborating with various stakeholders to target the most violent offenders and partners with local prevention and reentry programs for sustained crime reduction.
