Two Former Texas Correctional Officers Arrested on Felony Charges Involving Female Inmates

GALVESTON, Texas — Two former Texas correctional officers have been arrested following an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct involving female inmates at Hospital Galveston, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The arrests were announced June 18, 2026, after an investigation conducted by the TDCJ Office of Inspector General identified the former officers as suspects in incidents involving two incarcerated women.

Authorities said Kenneth McDaniel Jr. and Kamron Kirk, both former correctional officers assigned to the Galveston facility, were taken into custody and booked into the Galveston County Jail.

Both men have been charged with Civil Rights Violation/Improper Sexual Activity with a Person in Custody, a felony offense under Texas law.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said both employees were terminated following an administrative review of the allegations.

The arrests were carried out with assistance from the United States Marshals Service and local law enforcement agencies.

TDCJ officials emphasized that the agency maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding employee misconduct and remains committed to protecting both incarcerated individuals and staff members.

Additional details regarding the allegations have not been released as the criminal case proceeds through the judicial system.

The investigation remains ongoing.
