Teen Injured in South Lubbock After Falling Off SUV

The Lubbock Police Department is currently investigating a single-vehicle accident that resulted in a 16-year-old sustaining serious injuries in South Lubbock. The incident occurred in the late hours of Sunday, October 15, 2023.

Officers received a call for assistance at 11:44 pm, directing them to the 11800 block of Quaker Avenue. Initial findings suggest that an SUV, driven by a 16-year-old, was navigating through a parking lot with several other juveniles riding on top of the vehicle. One of the 16-year-old passengers fell off the SUV and was subsequently struck by the same vehicle.

The injured 16-year-old was promptly transported to University Medical Center by EMS for treatment of their serious injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
