South Texas Man Arrested For Threats with Gun and Machete Against Girlfriend’s Family

On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at approximately 19:00hrs, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence on the 24000 block of E. Brown Tract Rd., San Benito, Texas.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a 73-year-old female victim who reported that her daughter’s boyfriend, identified as 59-year-old Oscar Romero, had arrived at her residence intoxicated.

The victim stated that Romero began verbally threatening her and two others, expressing intentions to kill them with a gun and a machete. Although no weapons were seen, all three parties believed the threats were genuine, causing them to fear for their lives. Sheriff Deputies located Romero on the property and conducted a search of both him and the surrounding area, but no gun or machete was found.

Mr. Oscar Romero was subsequently arrested and transported to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center, where he awaits arraignment. He faces charges of Terroristic Threat TPC 42.07, a Class B Misdemeanor, with three counts related to the incident.
